Copyrights and Access to Information

If you receive a SMIP award, you will generally need to grant a license to Cornell Cooperative Extension of Ulster County (CCEUC) to distribute or use copyrightable materials. Through an agreement with CCEUC, the City of New York will have the right to distribute or use the copyrightable materials for any purpose, exclusive of right of resale. This approach is consistent with our support for non-profit, public education.

Exceptions to the copyright policy are made for scientific work, where the City does not have the right to change, modify or amend any research reports or publications based on data or information collected or gathered by or under agreement with CCEUC.

The SMIP grant recipient must warranty that any copyright, trademark, or patent rights of design, system, drawings, graphs, specifications, or printed, audio, or visual matter provided or used has been properly licensed.
