Register for Warner Creek Stream Walk

Join the AWSMP on a walk down Warner Creek in the Town of Shandaken on Sunday, September 14 as part of Ulster County Creek Week. The walk takes place between 10:00am and 12:00pm. NYCDEP geologist Danyelle Davis will lead the walk to two locations along Warner Creek. The walk begins at the end of Silver Hollow where we’ll examine a wild, unmanaged section of stream with both stable and unstable conditions. Topics include stream channel dimensions, stream types, and the role of geology and vegetation in shaping the channel. We’ll talk about how private landowners can address stream erosion. The second location is a short drive down Silver Hollow Road to the site of a major stream restoration project completed by the Town of Shandaken and AWSMP in 2013. The project demonstrates science-based practices in the field of stream restoration.

For more information or to register, email Brent Gotsch at bwg37@cornell.edu, or call 845-688-3047, Ext.3.

It is advisable to bring sunscreen and insect repellant that repels ticks. For the safety of all our participants, no pets are allowed.
