Summer Recreation on the River

Posted on: May 21st, 2014 by Leslie_Zucker

There is great fun to be had on the river this summer! Four 2014 Esopus Creek recreational water releases are scheduled for: June 7-8, July 19-20, Aug. 30-Sept. 1, and Oct. 4-5. A final determination on each event will be made by NYSDEC prior to the planned dates based on existing water conditions at the time.

Statewide free fishing weekend is June 28-29. During the last weekend in June, anyone can fish the Esopus Creek or other watershed streams and no license is required!

The Phoenicia Rotary is holding the 25th Annual Krazy Quacker Duck Race on the Stony Clove Creek in Phoenicia on Sunday, July 20.

Beginning this Friday, May 23rd, NYC DEP announced recreational boating will begin on four of their Catskill reservoirs: Cannonsville, Pepacton, Neversink, and Schoharie. The Catskill Watershed Corporation and the Watershed Post are offering a cool patch to those who paddle at least one of the four reservoirs during certain dates (the patch was produced in Boiceville).

Hold the date of July 27 for Family Fun and Fish Day! For people of all ages who want to try out fishing hosted by the AWSMP, NYSDEC and Trout Unlimited. Equipment is provided.
