Town of Olive Tackles Flooding

Posted on: September 25th, 2014 by Leslie_Zucker

The Town of Olive is seeking a qualified consulting firm to complete local flood analysis and develop mitigation projects for the hamlets of Boiceville and West Shokan. The goal is to model and prioritize solutions that reduce flood elevation levels. Once completed, the Town will have the information needed to tap into multiple funding sources for implementing projects. Olive is receiving assistance from AWSMP partners to start the project. The Town hopes to select a consulting firm by November. The project will run during 2015 and includes several public meetings with hamlet residents. Another goal of the project is to complete a town-wide Flood Hazard Mitigation Plan that allows Olive to join FEMA’s Community Rating System and reduce flood insurance premiums for town residents.
