Winter Watershed Studies

Two feet of snow and cold temperatures haven’t stopped the Bennett School Watershed Detectives from continuing their Ashokan Watershed field studies. Working with our Watershed Youth Educator, Matt Savatgy, students have learned how to use snowshoes as a helpful tool for accessing the snowy woods. Students have been busy collecting stream data and looking for evidence of how our local watershed fauna deal with winter conditions. The children are eager to observe and measure the impacts of the melting snow pack as spring approaches.
