The Ashokan Watershed Stream Management Program invites you to attend the film premiere of Exploring the Upper Esopus Creek Watershed at the Pine Hill Community Center from 5:30 to 7:00 PM on February 8th.
The event will start with a screening of the professionally produced, 22-minute educational film about the upper Esopus Creek and its watershed. Following the screening, there will be a panel Q&A with the production team and watershed educators who created the film.
The high-definition, visually astounding film was produced by Kingston-based Northguild Production. The film takes viewers on an armchair tour of the Ashokan watershed and focuses on how rivers form drainage systems. Educator Amanda Cabanillas introduces concepts such as watersheds, sediment transport, and invasive species at locations along the Esopus Creek. The educational messages are accompanied by sweeping cinematography that provides a bird’s eye view of the natural landscape of the Ashokan watershed. Viewers will be delighted see familiar landscapes from striking new perspectives.
A panel Q&A will follow the film screening. The panel will include educational professionals from AWSMP, Ulster County Soil and Water Conservation District, Greene County Soil and Water Conservation District (GCSWCD), and Northguild Productions. The Q&A is an opportunity for the public to ask questions about the production, screen writing, and stream topics highlighted within the film. Light refreshments and snacks will be available throughout the event.
