Stream Snorkeling Returns this Summer!

The Ashokan Watershed Stream Management Program is pleased to announce the return of one of its most popular summer activities:  Stream snorkeling! Discover the underwater world of streams by joining us for a fun-filled morning of stream snorkeling in the Esopus Creek. This free program was created with families in mind and is designed for people of all ability levels. Participants will meet at J. Rocco’s Creekside Grill, 7159 Route 28 Shandaken, NY.

Please join us on Friday, August 18, space is still available! Registration link below.

Space is limited to the first 15 residents of the Ashokan Watershed who register. Generally, the Ashokan Watershed overlaps the towns of Shandaken, Olive, Woodstock, and Hurley in Ulster County, and Lexington and Hunter in Greene County. Participants must be at least 8 years of age or older to snorkel, and children must be accompanied by an adult. Please leave your pets at home.

Please select a date and complete the registration form linked below to register for this event. After completing the form, you will receive an email confirmation with additional information and a waiver to sign. Registration is required for each participant who wants to snorkel. Parents or guardians who are not snorkeling are not required to register, but are required to accompany their child(ren) to the event. Each one-hour session is capped at 15 participants. Please only register for one session so we can accommodate as many residents as possible.

Snorkeling sessions are 1.5 hours, and there are two sessions:

  • Friday, August 18:
    • Session I, 9:00am
    • Session II, 10:30am

If the survey is closed, that means we have reached our 15-participant capacity. If there is not another open session that you can register for, or if you require any other assistance with registering, please contact Sophie Grant at sag327@cornell.edu, 845–688-3047 ext. 100, to be added to the waitlist.

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Ulster County provides equal program and employment opportunities.
